Yes, I do "spiritual belly dance". We have
free will, which means we make a choice. So I made a choice to
put God first.
My primary goal in belly dance is to use teaching and
performing to "channel the Muse" (the Creative Spirit) and
help people understand our interconnectedness; and when
working with my students, to help them find ways to express
it.
Spirituality is more than ethics and morals; read about Ethics in Belly Dance.
I manifest spirituality in my work (a "ministry through belly
dance") by following the Spirit, and allowing the Spirit to
work through me as much as I can. As an outward sign of my
intention, in 2002 I became an ordained minister through
Universal Ministries, and also formally incorporated spiritual
goals into my troupe's work. This continues today in my
holistic approach to belly dance, in both teaching or
performing.
If you choose to believe, life's goal becomes self-understanding,
self-conquest, and self-mastery - an evolving ability to
manifest Divine love for oneself and others, now and in
eternity - with many adventures along the way!
Invite the Spirit to work in your life and witness how love
unfolds in your heart. The more conscious you become of the
Divine Spirit within you, the more you can love yourself and
others, and be loved in return.
